INNERLEITHEN MUSIC FESTIVAL
You'll find more details of the concerts, including times and artists details, on our website, www.innerleithenmusicfestival.org , but here's a summary:
on Friday evening, the support act for KAREN MATHESON will be a brilliant duo - Peebles born EWAN WILKINSON & ace accordionist SANDY BRECHIN. Karen will have an absolutely stellar band with her - Donald Shaw (Capercaillie), James Grant (ex Love and Money) and Ewan Vernal (Deacon Blue). (Tickets: £13 / £11 conc / £5 child).
On Saturday afternoon, in conjunction with Big Sky recording label of Galashiels, we're running a grand concert showcasing no fewer than 5 of their main acts - RALLION, CRAIG JEFFREY & BAND, KENNY SPEIRS & JUDY DINNING, HILARY BELL & IAN LOWTHIAN and SARAH JAYNE & BAND. (Tickets: £8 / £6 conc / £5 child)
The Borders' favourite singer, HENRY DOUGLAS, along with MAC McEWEN, are the perfect opening act for ALY BAIN & PHIL CUNNINGHAM on Saturday evening - should be an absolutely super night. (Tickets: £15 / £13 conc / £5 child)
- Sunday daytime sees us at Traquair House walled garden again - the line up is still coming together, but so far we've got RIDDELL FIDDLES , JAKE COGAN (a superb singer-songwriter from Edinburgh) and the BEGGAR GIRLS. (Tickets: £3.50 / £2.50 child).
Finally on Sunday evening, a first for IMF and a mellow way to finish off the weekend - a TRADITIONAL SINGERS CONCERT. Headlining this will be THE CAST (featuring Dave Francis & Mairi Campbell, Scots Singer of the Year 2007) along with a series of lovely singers - SUSIE KELLY, SCOTT GARDINER & JOHNNY KEMP, ELSA LEMAITRE, GUS LANGLANDS, LINTIES and INNERLEITHEN FISHER LASSIES CHOIR. We' re running this in conjunction with Borders branch of TMSA (Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland).
We're still working on the details of these, but so far we've got Mairi Campbell booked for a Scots Song workshop in the beautiful surroundings of Traquair House chapel on the Sunday afternoon and Jenni Fraser for fiddle workshops on the Saturday. Full details, including how to get tickets, should be announced by the beginning of June.
GETTING CONCERT TICKETS
- on line via our web site www.innerleithenmusicfestival.org.
- at the Eastgate Theatre Box Office in Peebles, by phone (01721-725777), in person or by post (details on the web site).
- at Scotlight in Innerleithen High Street, in person. Note that at Scotlight only we're offering £2 off normal price tickets until the end of April.
As well as individual concert tickets, we've also got a limited number of Weekend Concert Tickets giving you admission to all 5 main concerts - these are £40 full price, £34 concession and £18 child.
Don't leave it too long before booking - we're expecting the Karen Matheson and Phil & Aly concerts to sell out!
Hotel and B&B space is fairly limited in Innerleithen itself, so do book
early. Check our accommodation list on the website. Once more we're trying
to work out how we can set up a festival campsite, so bear with us. In
the meantime, I would especially advise tent-dwellers to book the local
campsite asap (01896 831271). Caravanners, motorised or otherwise, have
more choice by way of unofficial places to park!
