Hawick – Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th March
Hawick is a town rich in the heritage and culture of the Borders. The history and myths of the days of the Reivers are the driving force behind Hawick Reivers Festival, which has now become an annual event in the town’s calendar. Music has always been an integral part of the festival and 2018 is no exception!
Newcastleton, 29th, 30th June, 1st July 2018
Newcastleton is probably the longest running traditional music festival in Scotland and has essentially maintained the same successful format since its inception in 1970.
The festival is centred on friendly competitions – everything from Border ballad singing – original new songs written in a traditional style – instrumental sections including all instruments and players – culminating in the winners performing at the Grand Concert. Some of the bestknown singers and players in Scottish folk and traditional music, of today and from the past, have their names engraved on the trophies at Newcastleton.

Innerleithen, 17-19 August 2018
The 16th annual music festival will take place on the weekend of 17th – 19th August.
Live & Local will be going ahead at the Vale Club, and the St Ronans Hotel will be building on the great programme they put together in 2017. The Parish Church is also keen to offer itself again as a venue for shows.
However, for the first time, the core team will not themselves be staging events in the name of the festival – they will be working purely to coordinate and help publicise events put on by other people . So, other people are needed to come forward with events to build into the programme. Not just music, but other arts events – perhaps an exhibition, dance show, something craft related, a workshop, an open garden, a themed walk….
Selkirk Sessions welcomes all musicians who enjoy playing folk (traditional or modern), contemporary and bluegrass music; and anyone who just likes listening to good stuff. Selkirk Sessions is going from strength to strength and continues to evolve as it develops!
Denholm, 2th to 4th November 2018
This small but perfectly formed festival has gained a great reputation for quality.
A small village set in the Teviot valley with two pubs, a church, a village hall and a very interesting new primary school, Denholm overflows with great music during this weekend.
The programme consists of Friday and Saturday concerts and late evenings at the Festival Club. (Artists to be announced). Top quality workshops, an Open Stage competition on Saturday and a free, church concert on the Sunday, all make for a fantastic weekend – not to mention the continual sessions..
